Letter from Professor Mary Reilly

27th March 2020

Dear All,

I appreciate this is a very difficult and worrying time for all patients including patients with Charcot Marie Tooth disease (CMT).It is important to remember that most patients with CMT do not have an increased risk of getting coronavirus or of getting it more severely. There are exceptions to this which are explained in more detail in the advice on the Charcot Marie Tooth UK website which Dr Matilde Laura and I have prepared. All of us should be following the recent clear guidance from the Prime Minister about staying at home. There is an unending flow of new information on the news and from websites and multiple social media sources, which can be overwhelming. It is important for patients with CMT to keep up to date with advice but to make sure they are getting their advice from reliable sources. Advice from Public Health England (PHE) will be very reliable and is updated daily here I wanted to reach out to everyone during this difficult time. Please take care of yourselves and follow the PHE guidelines.

Best Wishes
Professor Mary M Reilly
